Inspiration
We are Computer Science students that love astronomy! Thus, we want to create an educational website for kids to learn astronomy!
What it does
To educate primary school students about the solar system in an interactive and engaging way.
How we built it
HTML: Used for structuring the web pages and content. CSS: Utilized for styling and formatting the visual elements of the web pages, providing an engaging user interface. JavaScript: Implemented for interactive features and functionalities, enabling user interaction with the solar system elements.
Challenges we ran into
We challenged ourselves to only use HTML, CSS and JavaScript, thus, there were limited ways of making the website interactive without the use of other libraries such as React.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We made an interactive 3D solar system, a quiz with timer, a planets information page with animated texts and blinking stars, a 2D solar system with planets orbiting on home page and a simple working chatbot connected to an API.
What we learned
We learnt to use Three.js to implement to interactive 3D solar system, to use CSS and JavaScript to animations, to connect to an API.
What's next for SolarSafari Seeker
To connect chatGPT to the chatbot, add more quiz questions and add an interactive game.
