ProCO

Inspiration

As students, we struggled to find mentorship and guidance in our chosen fields. We felt lost and unsure of how to navigate the academic world and specialize in our areas of interest and even which area of specialization is good for us. So we thought of ProCO, a platform that connects students with mentors and professors for project collaboration. We were inspired by the idea of having access to experienced professionals who could provide the support and guidance we needed to succeed.

What it does

ProCO bridges the gap between students and mentors, allowing students to reach out to experts in their field and collaborate on projects. The platform also enables mentors to discover and hire talented students based on their profiles, fostering academic growth and innovation.

How we built it

To build ProCO, we utilized a combination of web technologies. The front-end was developed using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, while the back-end was built using a Node JS, Express.js and MongoDB ATLAS and few API's. We implemented features such as user authentication, profile creation, and AI powered questionnaire to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration between students and mentors.

Challenges we ran into

During the development process, we faced several challenges. One of the main hurdles was designing an intuitive user interface that would be easy for both students and mentors to navigate. We ran into a bunch of problems related to integration as well which resulted in leaving out few functionalities as well so we provided a visual proof of concept for that.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite the challenges, we are satisfied with what we achieved with ProCO even though it needs a lot of improvement. We successfully created a platform that connects students and mentors, providing a valuable resource for academic growth and collaboration.

What we learned

Throughout the development of ProCO, we learned a great deal about web development, database management, and user experience design. We also gained valuable insights into the importance of mentorship and collaboration in academic settings. Working on this project taught us the significance of perseverance, problem-solving, and effective communication within a team.

What's next for ProCO

Looking ahead, we have exciting plans for the future of ProCO. We aim to target the platform's reach to university level specifically, providing even more students with access to mentorship and collaboration opportunities. We also plan to integrate additional features, such as virtual meeting rooms and project management tools, to enhance the user experience and facilitate more effective collaboration. Our ultimate goal is to make ProCO the go-to platform for students and mentors seeking to connect, learn, and grow together.
