5C Pay

Mitchell Keenan and Helene Sov

The app on your phone for all of your 5C swipe needs!

We are approaching the maker track in conjunction with the beginner, best-failed hack, and best 5C Hack overlays.

Our project relates to the theme of Tech for Good by helping college students. We coded in Dart at Flutlab.io to generate a simulated app and Figma to create a visualization and framework for what we hope the app will eventually become. The ethics of our project consider that this app may not be practical for all the populations on campus and that access to private information such as Claremont Cash values will require more security measures, but we hope to serve those who may want to use it.

We want to tackle the issue of students losing their ID cards and keeping track of their school balances. Initially, we wanted to integrate the campus swipe into our phones, but it wasn’t within the scope of this Hackathon. We’ve shifted towards getting the information in the RFID system connected to our IDs onto phones.

We believe 5C Pay provides a simple way for college students to keep track of their student balances anywhere on their phone with a great and easy-to-use user interface. The website currently used to access this information isn’t easily accessible. It is difficult to find the website, and there’s a learning curve for loading Claremont Cash. The 5C Pay app is applicable to situations where students may want to check how much flexibility they have in meals as a consideration of budgeting. For instance, those with mobility issues can load Claremont cash from anywhere on their phone. The future of this project is to get access to the Claremont database so that students can access their real data on their phones.

Our project has a code base in Flutlab.io, simulating how the app looks on a phone, with a loading Claremont Cash and payment history function. Our app design is represented by the Figma.
