Inspiration
As Computer Science majors trying to break into the industry, we always seek out ways to improve in not only our technical skills but also our soft skills. Yet, it always seems so difficult since our emotions sometimes get the better of us whether it is due to stress, anxiety, and etc... This particularly affects us during interviews.
Whenever we interview, there is always an instinct to whether we did good or we did bad. However, we're never able to put it to words accurately... If only there's a way to have specific metrics to know where improvements can be made!
What it does
Serenity can be used as a commercial tool by recruiters from large companies or simply by your closest friends to give more emotional insight on the interviewee's/person you're talking to.
How we built it
We utilized Flask for the back-end and React for the front-end while utilizing various libraries. In particular, we used the Hume API which gives statistical data which we then process.
Challenges we ran into
Coming from various backgrounds and different strengths, it was very challenging first incorporating our skillsets. We had trouble utilizing Flask as a Backend with React as a Frontend but still push through. Not only that, the various libraries we used had issues in terms of dating, compatibility. All these issues took hours of debugging.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
However, what we found as we meshed together turned into countless of innovation, ideas and growth as we learned diverse and completely foreign technology. We are one step closer each minute and second of a fully dynamic webapp with cutting edge tech.
What we learned
We learned to persevere even when things seem tough with new concepts.
