Inspiration
The inspiration for "Sir Sort-a-Lot" came from the growing need to educate the public on the importance of recycling and proper waste management. We wanted to create a fun and engaging way to encourage people to learn more about recycling and to have environmentally friendly habits.
What it does
"Sir Sort-a-Lot" is a game where players sort trash into the correct recycling bins, earning points for accurate sorting and losing lives for mistakes. The game provides recycling information for incorrectly sorted items and allows players to share their high scores. It features three game modes: Trash Limit, Time Limit, and Unlimited, catering to various playstyles and objectives.
How we built it
We developed "Sir Sort-a-Lot" using the Flutter and Flame.
Challenges we ran into
One of the primary challenges we faced was managing the project within tight time constraints. Additionally, using the Flame engine took time because it was our first experience with it for this project.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of creating an educational game that is both entertaining and informative.
What we learned
Throughout the development process, we learned a great deal about game design, cross-platform development, and the importance of user feedback in refining educational content. We also deepened our understanding of recycling and waste management, which influenced the game's educational aspects.
What's next for Sir Sort-a-Lot
We plan to expand "Sir Sort-a-Lot" with more waste types, and recycling information to cover a broader range of environmental topics. We also aim to incorporate community features, such as leaderboards and challenges, to foster a community of environmentally conscious players. Additionally, we will continue to refine the gameplay and educational content based on user feedback.
