Inspiration

According to the World Health Organisation, About 15 per cent of the world’s population lives with some form of disability, yet fashion and beauty can be hard to enjoy because of attitudinal barriers, While the beauty industry has become more inclusive in some areas, it remains a realm exclusively designed for the able-bodied. For those with disabilities, the variety of expression open to them is unjustly restricted. It’s all down to the fact that our society – including the fashion and beauty worlds – are designed around able-bodied people. To eradicate this problem, we have comeup with project khoobsuorat, which means beauty in hindi. Our solution Khoobsurat is a platform for everyone so that they dont feel left out.

What it does

The project is quite simple, yet revolutionary. Project Khoobsuart is a one-stop solution for everyone who is interested in makeup/fashion. Our Project provides a single solution to every fashionista and beauty enthusiast while keeping their health in mind. To keep it simple, short and crisp - Project Khoobsurat solves two simple problems : Beauty for All and Beauty at your fingertips.

How we built it

We Built this project using ReactJs as the front end and NodeJs as Backend. We used the MongoDB database to handle and store all information. We also took the help of AR- Augmented reality to provide the feature of virtual makeup Tryon.

Challenges we ran into

During the initial phase, we were confused, about what features were to be kept in mind while designing our website. We had to choose whether to use Machine Learning to be able to integrate Virtual makeup tryon or something else. but with ML the inference time was just too high. So we decided to go with AR. Which was a completely new field for us. But we did manage to get it done just in time

Accomplishments that we're proud of

AR- Augmented reality is something which we had no experience to begin with. We are a team of FullStack Developers with hands on experience in building ML Projcets to help real world problems. but this happens to be our first project which is built on AR. We are proud of this team because we were able to present to this world- Project Khoobsurat, within a such short span of time.

What's next for Project Khoobsurat

Since, the target audience for this project was mostly disabled people, their requirements are to be taken with utmost priority. We plan on integrating a AI-enabled chatbot where it learns the user preferences and suggests beauty products accordingly. With due time, it learns about the user's shopping style as well and keeps suggesting products which the user will like . we also plan on making the whole website speech enabled - People with visual disabilities can also browse through our website without breaking a sweat. We also plan on perfecting the AR, and add more prodcuts which can be used with AR.
