THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN CANCELLED (for the hackathon, i might work on it on my own later)
As we say in Texas, you have to know if the juice is worth the squeeze.
Inspiration
"God created HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, all else is the work of man." - Kronecker
I thought it would be fun to try and create a DAW/sequencer/tracker (not sure what the correct term would be for this) entirely in an HTML <textarea> element (excluding play/pause buttons and other controls), with the whole project being contained in a single HTML file. Being able to share songs, melodies, and instruments (made with FM and AM synthesis) entirely as snippets of text seemed neat to me. The base Web Audio API is actually much more powerful and richly featured than I expected, as it has oscillators, AM, and FM synthesis built-in.
What it does
Nothing much, as of posting this.
How we built it
Writing text into an IDE and using a search engine.
Challenges we ran into
Being too tired and doubting whether there was enough time to finish and if it would be worth the exertion to do so.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I got a decent amount done. It was fun.
What we learned
Don't drink too many energy drinks the first night and ruin your sleep. I can't accomplish as much as I'd hoped in such a small amount of time.
What's next?
I'll probably finish it... sometime. It's actually a project I might like to keep working on.
Note: This was originally called Project A.B.A.D.D.O.N. as a joke.
