Introducing Internhub! 🚀

We’re Serena Mao and Tom Lam, and we’re excited to present Internhub! Internhub is an all-inclusive, beginner-friendly software engineering (SWE) job application portal for college students.

Motivation

As the president of HMC’s Society of Women Engineers chapter, Serena learned firsthand that many female SWEs-to-be had no idea where to start with recruiting. On the other hand, many of their male peers grew up in STEM-heavy, male-dominated grind cultures, where they had no trouble finding resources and experienced friends/family. Even worse, since SWE is a young profession, Office of Career Services counselors don’t understand the complex application process either.

So, she recruited Tom to create an application hub that hopes to be:

1) All inclusive 🌐

  • Resume
    • AI powered, customized resume generation
  • Behavioral interviews
    • Prep questions for general and company specific interviews
  • Application tracking
    • Reminds users of upcoming deadline; customizes resumes and interview prep to your active applications
  • Technical interview
    • Mock interviews, Leetcode problem tracking

2) Beginner friendly 🌱

Most existing online application hubs assume you’re an experienced job seeker, but our audience is quite the opposite. With Internhub recommendations, our vision is to show users exactly what they should do next, just in case they’re not sure.

3) School-supportive 🎓

By licensing out Interhub to school career centers, schools can track their students’ progress, send announcements, view school statistics, etc. that other non-school-specific platforms don’t offer.

Conclusion

Though Internhub started to support women, having an always-available, beginner-friendly resource can be a life-changer for all minority groups who feel lost in the process. With this app, we hope to democratize the recruitment process, allowing those who might otherwise see SWE recruiting as a scary black box build confidence and show companies their best selves. 🌟
