Inspiration

Hover Crop was inspired by the imperative need to modernize agriculture with sustainable practices. As climate change challenges traditional farming methods, we envisioned a vehicle that minimizes labor and operates without contributing to pollution — a silent guardian for the fields of the future.

What it does

Hover Crop is a renewable energy electric vehicle designed to aid in agricultural tasks, revolutionizing the farming landscape. It hovers above crops, monitoring growth, soil health, and moisture levels without the need for manual labor. Fully electric, it leaves no carbon footprint, contributing to a cleaner, greener earth.

How we built it

We constructed Hover Crop from the ground up, focusing on sustainability. The body is crafted from recycled materials, powered by an efficient electric motor. We implemented a solar panel system to recharge the 9V batteries, ensuring an uninterrupted power supply. The vehicle is controlled by an Arduino, which manages its sensors and GPS for autonomous navigation across the fields.

Challenges we ran into

One of the toughest challenges was integrating the hover technology in a way that would be powerful enough to carry the vehicle and its equipment yet efficient enough to run on our eco-friendly power system. Ensuring consistent performance across different types of terrain also tested our engineering creativity and resourcefulness.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud of developing a fully functional, eco-friendly agricultural vehicle prototype. The successful integration of hover technology powered by renewable energy in a farming context marks a significant achievement. We have potentially set a new standard for sustainable farming practices.

What we learned

Throughout this project, we learned about the intricate balance between technological innovation and environmental responsibility. The intricacies of power management and autonomous navigation in unstructured outdoor environments were particularly enlightening. We've also gained a greater appreciation for interdisciplinary collaboration.

What's next for Hover Crop

The next phase for Hover Crop includes refining its sensor array to provide more detailed data analytics. We plan to integrate machine learning algorithms for predictive analysis of crop health and expand its functionality to include tasks like seeding and fertilizing. Ultimately, we aim to bring Hover Crop into production, offering farmers a sustainable alternative to traditional agricultural machinery.
