Inspiration
We have a few pre-med friends who were talking about how they would like to compile a list of healthcare providers and information about them. We wanted to expand on that idea by building a website for everyone to visit!
What it does
Our service allows anyone to efficiently find healthcare providers near them who match their specific needs. This provides an alternative to googling for providers in your area and doing research on each one to find the specific one for you. We aim to consolidate information about cost, services provided, and insurance coverage options and display meaningful results to our users.
How we built it
The app uses a python Flask backend to serve up HTML/CSS/JS and other files. Flask theoretically should also handle a REST API which will eventually connect to a database with our consolidated data.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled to with getting certain elements of some webpages to work correctly, especially the positioning of the highlight over Kansas City.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We managed to put together a fairly good looking website and have a pretty great idea!
What we learned
We learnt a lot about Flask, and how CSS works.
What's next for Heath Bridge
We plan to include information about insurance providers so results can be filtered by insurance coverage. We also want to eventually put together a database and connect it to the front end.
