Inspiration

We were inspired by the newfound popularity of personality quizzes such as the Cake quiz and the Cosmos personality quiz. We decided to reflect on our hackathon experiences to make this one to share with our fellow hackathon lovers!

What it does

This website is a fun personality quiz that walks you through attending HackKU to determine what hackathon you should go to next!

How we built it

We built it using Netlify and MongoDB. It relies on a static-server with NextJS and a serverless function with NodeJS to make MongoDB connection. The MongoDB server is provided by MongoDB Atlas, a SaaS solution for NoSQL database. We also used Figma to create the final hackathon tickets

Challenges we ran into

Working with MongoDB turned out to have unexpected challenges. MongoDB Atlas denies all IP address connections by default and it took some research to figure out why the calls weren't going through! Web development was also challenging as none of us had good experience with React and NextJS

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the fact that we came together and made something that reflected on our experiences as hackathon attendees. We hope this brings joy to other hackathon community members! We also hope to spread the word about different hackathons out there!
