Inspiration
The inspiration behind GreenStack came from a desire to create a game that not only entertains but also educates players about the importance of sustainability and self-sufficiency. We wanted to provide an interactive platform where players could experience the challenges and rewards of building a sustainable lifestyle in a virtual environment.
What it does
GreenStack is a game where players stack cards to obtain food, craft items, and build structures with the goal of becoming self-sustainable. Players start with a basic set of cards representing a person and essential resources like energy plants, jobs, and supermarkets. Through purchasing card packs with virtual currency, players can change their habits and strive to become fully self-sustained individuals. The game simulates various factors such as food consumption, health, pollution, and resource management, challenging players to make strategic decisions to thrive in the game world.
How we built it
We embarked on crafting this project utilizing the versatile Flutter framework, a cross-platform language compatible with various devices. Delving into the realm of game development, we immersed ourselves in studying and absorbing insights from the Flame documentation. Leveraging Flutter’s native widgets, we meticulously sculpted the cards, ensuring an intuitive and visually appealing interface. To enhance the aesthetic and functionality, we integrated packages such as FontAwesome. However, paramount to our journey was the boundless creativity we infused into the development process, driven by our passion for programming in Flutter.
Challenges we ran into
Throughout the development process, we encountered several challenges, including: Designing a balanced gameplay experience that is both challenging and enjoyable for players. Implementing complex card mechanics and interactions while maintaining code readability and scalability.
