We have friends who are diabetic and want ways to help them. GluScope monitors children ages k-12 blood sugar levels and sends data to the school nurse. We used a Raspberry PI to collect data from the blood sugar device and send that data to a wearable device like a watch and we used MongoDB and NodeJS to implement that. Lastly, we used HTML, JavaScript, and CSS to create a website for nurses to monitor the data. Some challenges we faced were the shortened time constraints, we could not fully connect the back and front ends. But the back end is essentially functional and can be quickly implemented into the front end. Creating a unique app that has a personal effect on us all. We also made good progress quickly on an app we were passionate about. We learned more about diabetes and glucose levels, working with teams in stressful situations, and new technology like webhooks. GluScope hopes to implement health recommendations based on glucose levels and location tracking for students on campus.
