The GiveChange web app is a pioneering digital platform designed to promote charitable giving in the modern era. Leveraging the ubiquity of digital transactions, our app empowers users to effortlessly round up their everyday purchases and direct the spare change towards causes they care about. GiveChange redefines philanthropy for the digital age. By harnessing the power of collective giving, our platform endeavors to create a world where every transaction becomes an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

How we built it

• Plaid API to handle transaction/bank account history
• Kintone API to update database of transactions and donations for every user

Challenges

• Plaid API transaction timing issues
• Kintone API record modification issues

Accomplishments

• Exposure to new APIs (Plaid, Kintone) and node.js
• Exposure to front end web development and associated languages (HTML, CSS, JS)

What's next for GiveChange

• Social connections with other GiveChange users
• Specific donation minimum/maximum settings
• Create browser plug-in to show donations made with each online purchase
