Inspiration

The inception of Gallery stems from the desire to leverage cutting-edge AI and AR/VR technologies to foster mental wellbeing. Recognizing the transformative power of meditation and the need for personalized, safe spaces, we envisioned an application that empowers users to create their ideal meditation environments. Our goal was to harness the capabilities of visionOS to offer an immersive, soothing experience that promotes mental health and relaxation.

What it does

Gallery is an innovative application that utilizes a sophisticated AI model within visionOS to generate customized meditation spaces. Users can simply prompt the AI with their desired ambiance, and the app, powered by visionOS, transports them into a mesmerizing, three-dimensional panoramic space designed for meditation. This virtual sanctuary is tailored to the user's preferences, creating a unique and personal meditative experience.

How we built it

Our journey in creating Gallery was centered around SwiftUI and the newly introduced visionOS. With visionOS debuting just a month prior to our development start, we embarked on a learning expedition, navigating through Apple's documentation to understand and apply this groundbreaking technology. The development process involved integrating visionOS with SwiftUI to design and render crisp 3D panoramic images that form the core of Gallery's meditative spaces.

Challenges we ran into

The major hurdles we faced were the scarcity of external resources and the challenge of developing an application for a platform as recent as visionOS. The novelty of visionOS meant that examples and references were sparse, compelling us to rely heavily on Apple's official documentation and the visionOS source code. This limitation tested our adaptability and required a deep dive into the intricacies of visionOS and SwiftUI to bring our vision to life.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Despite the challenges, we are immensely proud of our ability to navigate the complexities of a new technology like visionOS and deliver a product that stands at the intersection of AI and AR/VR innovation. Gallery's ability to generate detailed, immersive 3D spaces for meditation showcases our team's technical prowess and commitment to enhancing mental wellness through technology.

What we learned

The development process was a profound learning journey, offering us valuable insights into the capabilities, limitations, and future possibilities of visionOS. We gained a deeper understanding of how AR/VR technologies can be leveraged to create impactful, user-centered applications. The experience has equipped us with the knowledge and skills to further explore and innovate within the realms of AI and AR/VR.

What's next for Gallery

Looking ahead, we aim to expand Gallery's capabilities by introducing SharePlay Integration. This feature will enable users to experience environments that they create together, to foster a sense of community and shared experience. By allowing multiple people to exist and enter into meditations together, we hope to further our mission of reducing anxiety and promoting mental health, making meditation a more collaborative and interactive experience.
