Inspiration
From the start of our project, our goal was to create a unique twist on the classics. After considering games that we both love, Pong immediately stuck out to us.
What it does
The website contains a pong game built around the innate classic joke," Why did the chicken cross the road?" Furthermore, we wanted to honor everyone who helped to make this event happen, so we made a basic guessing game where the word to guess is "kleinhacks".
How we built it
To start our web development, we focused on creating the basic HTML and styling it through CSS. After getting the fundamentals down, we added JavaScript to make everything work/responsive.
Challenges we ran into
Managing the edge cases for our pong game proved to be an initial challenge, but the true difficulty we faced was in making the buttons both work and look up to par.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Managing to strengthen our introductory skills in the main languages of web development is by far the proudest accomplishment from this Hackathon. Though, concerning our project, being able to make the Pong ball a chicken is something we're proud of.
What we learned
We learned the valuable skills involved in making web-based games, and we now know the vast time requirements that it takes. We also learned more about hosting a website, this being our first time deploying one.
What's next for CoolerMathGames
In the future, we would like to add to the collection of games on the website and make it progressively more focused on the joke made through the Pong game and the domain name.
