Inspiration

ClassCompass was inspired by the challenge many students face: procrastination due to overwhelming assignments. We believe breaking tasks into manageable parts can significantly reduce this burden.

What it does

ClassCompass uses AI to analyze students' assignments, breaking them down into smaller, more manageable tasks. This helps students plan their work more effectively, making big projects feel less daunting.

How we built it

We built ClassCompass by integrating AI technology that understands assignment requirements and suggests a step-by-step approach to complete them. This system was developed using insights from educational psychology and AI programming.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into several challenges such as integrating APIs with frontend but we believe our biggest challenge was intergating Canvas API which proved to be a significant challenge due to its complexity and the level of authentication required. Despite this, we persevered, learning a great deal about API integration in the process.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We pulled an all-nighter for this and even though it's not complete, we're proud of how far we've come

What we learned

We learned a whole lot from scratch

What's next for ClassCompasss

Moving forward, we aim to enhance ClassCompass by querying assignments directly from Canvas, allowing for task splitting, and enabling users to ask follow-up questions on each subtask to further personalize their learning experience.
