Inspiration
8Bit Auto is inspired by the charm and unique personality of vintage cars. Each car tells a story and appeals to its owner's individual style and preferences. Our goal is to harness the power of AI to bridge the gap between vintage car enthusiasts and their perfect automotive match, making the discovery process as enjoyable and fitting as driving the car itself.
What it does
8Bit Auto uses an AI chat model integrated with a vector database of vintage cars to recommend vehicles to users based on their preferences and tastes. Users interact with the chat interface, where they can describe their ideal car's style, age, performance specifications, and other attributes. The AI model then processes these inputs against our database to find and suggest the best matches, offering a personalized and engaging experience.
How we built it
We developed 8Bit Auto by first curating a comprehensive database of vintage cars, each catalogued with detailed attributes and images. We used vector embedding techniques to represent these attributes in a way that our AI model can efficiently process. The chat model is built on a conversational AI framework, allowing natural and dynamic interactions with users. We focused on creating a user-friendly interface that makes the exploration of vintage cars both accessible and informative.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges was ensuring high accuracy in matching users with cars that genuinely fit their tastes, which involved fine-tuning the AI's understanding of subjective descriptors like "sleek" or "muscular." Additionally, integrating diverse data sources into a unified vector database required meticulous data normalization and validation to maintain the integrity of our matching process.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of developing a platform that not only enhances the user experience in vintage car discovery but also pushes the envelope in applying AI to the automotive industry. Our ability to translate abstract preferences into concrete recommendations using AI is a significant milestone. The positive feedback from early users about the accuracy and enjoyment of the platform has been particularly gratifying.
What we learned
